The standard of the TIG welding processes, MIG, and stick are all capable of carbon steel pipe welding stainless steel pipe. Carbon standard E-class, such as MIG welding electrodes E70 to stick or 7018 of the tube held together, but welding will compromised by lack of chromium and nickel in the alloy.

Therefore stainless high carbon steel electrodes should be used to seal the welded joint. Welding electrodes 309 provide the correct composition to ensure adequate penetration welding and structural integrity.

Cut the end of the wire welding nozzle sticking out of the MIG welding machine with wire cutters. Back tail welding wire to remove the cable from the MIG gun and lead. Remove reel. Tail of the MIG welding machine with the 309 wire welding.

Gas exchange with one of the three shielding gas mixture. Before fixing the three parties shielding gas was the gas bottle on its side and roll the tank back and forth for two minutes to ensure thorough mixing of the gas. Connect the meter of gas to the gas cylinder in three parts.

Turn the MIG welding machine and set the heat and wire speed. Because of the greater amount of heat required for soldering stainless steel, the standard configuration for carbon steel heat will be insufficient. Check your solder to determine an initial test for the establishment heat and wire speed. Run a test pass with the welder to ensure that the settings are correct.

Cut two pieces of stainless steel tube and two pieces of carbon steel pipe 4 inches long for use as test pieces. Mark the tube with permanent marker and the envelope of hose. Cut the tube with the band saw. When cutting stainless steel, reduce speed and use cutting fluid to keep the band saw blade cool.

Turn the wheel hard to the grinder. Place a 20-degree Bevel cut end of the test pieces of the pipe with the grinder. Keep the mill at a constant 20 degrees to give a filling line, even. Be careful when grinding of the pipe. The heat is rising rapidly, especially in stainless steel pipes. The tube is heated enough to cause burns in seconds.

Place a beveled end of the steel pipe against a beveled end of stainless steel tubing. Leave a space of 1/16th weld between two pieces of pipe. Place a nail in the weld to keep the tube together. Roll the pipe and drop a course every inch around the circumference of the pipe. Make sure you have at each tack weld 1/16th inch gap.

Welding of pipe together. Search welding stainless steel pipe and pull the pool in the carbon steel pipe. Roll your MIG gun in a circle to the flow of the pool, dropping 1/8th of an inch on each stroke down to create a good "roll of dimes" weld. See the bottom of the weld to ensure adequate penetration. If you find that the carbon tube is under-cutting, reducing heat in your MIG welder and try again. By reducing the amount of heat that does not reduce retention, accelerate the upstroke of the circle to take the heat out of steel tubing.
